Acquiring
Chosen Books publishes books for the charismatic stream of the Church. Books that discuss the active ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit in today’s world, teaching believers how to walk in Him and work in their gifts. We aim to provide resources that equip the saints for the work of the ministry.
Our key topics: prayer, intercession, spiritual warfare, prophecy, deliverance/inner healing, gifts of the Spirit, healing, dreams.
Not Acquiring
Fiction, memoirs, children’s books, or devotionals.
Teddi Deppner (Havok Publishing)
Havok Publishing is acquiring stories written to theme for its flash fiction contest, with winning stories assembled into anthologies in print and ebook:
Acquiring
Flash fiction, between 300-1000 words
- Genres: mystery, thriller, humor, fantasy, science fiction (and all applicable subgenres of those)
- Submission guidelines
Not Acquiring
- NOT vignettes or excerpts—must be a complete short story.
- NOT non-fiction, unless it reads like a story in one of our five main genres.
- NOT romance, unless it also falls into one of our five main genres (romantic sci-fi is fine, romantic suspense is fine, etc).
- NOT Christian fiction in a soapbox fashion, though Christian themes and worldview are welcome. We are a general market publisher.
Lindsay Franklin (Enclave Publishing)
Lindsay is not personally acquiring for Enclave as Enclave has an open submissions process via an online form.
However, Lindsay will be happy to meet with attendees to discuss their projects and show them how to submit.
Enclave is currently looking for all genres of speculative fiction (fantasy, science fiction, dystopian, etc.) for adult and young adult audiences.

Bob Hostetler (The Steve Laube Agency)
I focus my efforts in representing books—both fiction and nonfiction—for the Christian market (though when a proposal has broad appeal for the general market, the resources are available to me to take it there).
Acquiring
Fiction: women’s contemporary, timeslip, romance, suspense, thriller. I’ll also give a loving glance at historical fiction and biblical fiction, though those are a tougher sell.
Nonfiction: Christian living, women’s nonfiction, devotional/gift books, health and well-being, marriage and family, parenting, prayer, spiritual growth, teens/young adult.
Not Acquiring
Fiction: fantasy, science fiction, time travel, horror, middle grade, young adult (YA).
Nonfiction: academic, autobiography / biography, Bible studies, cookbooks, doctrinal issues, memoir, pastoral helps, poetry, sermons, theology.
What about Children’s Books?
I rarely represent children’s books, but will look at picture books and board books, both fiction and nonfiction, if you twist my arm or offer me donuts. [Those are Bob’s own words, so come with donuts if you want to pitch picture or board books!]
Shadia Hrichi (Leafwood Publishers)
Acquiring
Leafwood is looking for strong relationships with committed authors who write solid spiritual content grounded in the Word of God, such as Christian living books, church/pastoral resources, practical self-help, or Bible study. Writers should possess appropriate academic credentials, or vocational or ministry training or expertise. Leafwood appreciates content that pushes readers to think about their faith in new and fresh ways.
Not Acquiring
Fiction, poetry, children’s, YA, memoir, or devotionals.
Karen Neumair (Credo Communications)
Literary Agent Karen Neumair represents Christian Living, Spiritual Growth, and topics geared toward women and families, including a limited number of children’s picture and board books.
Attendees are encouraged to bring “Ask the Expert” questions about writing, publishing, and the industry for tailored guidance.
